Who produces the election numbers?
Votes are tallied by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE). Each machine prints its own report with the totals for its polling station, and the TSE adds the reports as the stations report in. The official result is published at resultados.tse.jus.br, the primary source used by the press and by the sites that track the count.
The TSE also offers an app called Resultados, with the same data. It is the official reference for anyone who wants to follow the count directly from the source.
How does Brazil Election 2026 use this data?
Brazil Election 2026 reads the numbers published by the TSE and presents them by country, state, municipality and electoral zone. Brazil Election 2026 does not estimate votes: the site shows what the TSE publishes.
Each page indicates its source and the date and time of its last update. During the count, the browser updates the totals every 15 seconds as the TSE publishes new polling stations. The data files also show the time they were generated.
The data access formats, such as JSON files and Markdown pages, are public. They are meant for anyone who wants to use the numbers in other applications, with no sign-up. The results-from-abroad page covers 186 cities in 134 countries, with the votes of Brazilians who voted outside the country. Before the tally begins at 5 p.m., it also adds up the ballot box reports that the TSE has already published, polling station by polling station, from the cities where voting has ended: a partial count, shown separately from the official numbers.
Does Brazil Election 2026 have any ties to the TSE or to parties?
No. Brazil Election 2026 is an independent, free site that requires no sign-up. It has no ties to the TSE, to parties or to candidates, and it does not campaign or recommend how to vote.
As an independent site, it only reproduces and organizes the official data. To check any number, the route is always the primary source, the TSE. Brazil Election 2026 does not alter the TSE's numbers, and publishes them as they were released. The president's page includes the comparison with 2022, using the figures published by the TSE.
Why do other sites show the same numbers?
Outlets such as g1, UOL, Folha, Estadão and CNN Brasil also publish live results. All of them show the same official TSE numbers, because the source is the same.
For that reason, when comparing two sites, the reference number is the TSE's. Each outlet has its own format and pages, but the count comes from the same tally.
How can you tell whether the numbers are up to date?
Each page shows the date and time of its last update, and the data files show the time they were generated. During the count, the totals change every few seconds as new polling stations are published. When the count reaches 100% of polling stations, the page shows the complete result published by the TSE, with the same generation date and time indicated in the source. If in doubt about a number, the reference remains the TSE's publication at resultados.tse.jus.br, which is the primary source.
