Where should you start reading a page?

The page starts with the national result, showing the candidate who is leading and the percentage of valid votes. Just below is the table of candidates, in order of votes, with party, number, total votes and percentage. Candidates are listed from the most votes to the fewest.

The page also shows the date and time of the last update. This tells you whether the numbers are recent, and it is the first thing to check when you open a page.

What does the valid-vote percentage mean?

The percentage is calculated on valid votes, which are the votes cast for candidates and, in the proportional system, for party lists. Blank and null votes are not part of this calculation and do not count for any candidate. Each candidate's percentage changes as votes are added, until the count is complete.

For that reason, the page reports blank and null votes separately. In the first round, the president's page showed blank and null votes at 4.8% and turnout at 78.9%.

How do you read the polling stations counted field?

The polling stations counted field shows the share of electoral sections the TSE has already added to the tally. When it reads 100%, the count for that area is complete. In the first round, the president's page reached 100% of polling stations counted, out of a total of 499,248.

A race is decided only when the leader can no longer be overtaken with the votes still to be counted. For that reason, a page can show a leader before the count is complete.

How do you read the state table?

On the president's page, the state table shows, for each federative unit, who is leading, the percentage of valid votes and the polling stations counted. The table lets you compare states without opening each page.

Votes cast abroad also appear in this table, and in the first round they reached 100% of polling stations counted. To see each state in detail, use that state's own page.

How do you read the results by region?

The regional block shows which candidate leads in each of the country's five regions, with the percentage of valid votes. In the first round, Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) led in the North, with 49.2%, in the Center-West, with 56.5%, in the Southeast, with 51.4%, and in the South, with 60.1%.

Lula (PT) led only in the Northeast, with 63.8%. Reading the regional block helps show the parts of the country where each candidate received the largest share of valid votes.

How do you read the comparison with 2022?

The president's page compares the 2026 percentages with those of 2022. In the first round of 2022, Lula (PT) received 48.4% of valid votes and Jair Bolsonaro (PL) received 43.2%.

In the first round of 2026, Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) received 47.0% and Lula (PT) 45.2%. Changes appear in percentage points: according to the published comparison, the PL rose 3.8 points and the PT fell 3.3 points.

When a party fielded different candidates in the two elections, the page shows both names side by side, such as Jair Bolsonaro in 2022 and Flávio Bolsonaro in 2026. The comparison therefore shows who ran in each election.

How do you read the text or Markdown version?

Each page is also available as text, already rendered on the server, and as Markdown. To read the Markdown version, add .md to the address, as in /governadores/sp.md.

Confirmed results and changes in the lead are also published as an RSS feed, at /atualizacoes.xml. Readers who use an RSS reader can follow these changes without reopening the page at every update.
